There’s A Ghost In My House with R Dean Taylor

R Dean Taylor may well be one of the most underrated singer/songwriters ever to perform on Motown. He was at his height during the late 60s and early 70s. “There’s a Ghost in my House” was first released in 1967 and then re-issued again in 1974.

Canadian-born Taylor was originally employed as a composer by Motown but he came to the public’s attention with ‘Ghost and then quickly followed it with “Gotta See Jane” in 1968. Upon signing with Rare Earth, he had his biggest hit of all – “Indiana Wants Me” in 1970. He split with Motown when he created his own label (Jane Records) in 1973.

I think I would rather have seen Gotta See Jane on this album, although there’s no doubting the appeal of Ghost. I’ve always wondered what the ‘R’ stood for in R Dean Taylor?
