The 1970 Rare Earth version of “Get Ready” was originally performed by the Temptations in 1966. However, it was the Rare Earth version that was most successful reaching number 4 in the US charts. The song however is important in itself in that it marked the last contribution from Smokey Robinson for the Temptations.

Rare Earth were actually the only successful Rock presence in the Motown stable. The consisted of Pete Hoorelbeke, Gil Bridges, Russ and Ralph Terrana, John Persh and Steve Fischer who orignally played together as ‘The Sunliners’. They never really matched the success of “Get Ready”, notable for its original length – just over 21 minutes!
